Nestled on the slope of Setzer Mountain, 1,000' above Maggie Valley and 2,000' above Cherokee and Gatlinburg, the ABBEY INN overlooks 5 miles of ridges and valleys.

Although we are conveniently located to all western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee attractions, our restful, secluded setting is ideal for all those who wish to sleep to the sounds of a gurgling creek and wake up to the music of the many song birds who call our wooded acres "home".

The views you will see from your room, porch, or the swings dotting our mountain side are equalled by no other motel in the area.  In springtime, see dogwoods and all varieties of wild flowers bloom; in summer, enjoy the beauty of mountain laurel and rhododendron.  In fall, you are surrounded by a riot of colors that will reconfirm your belief in the beauty of  nature.

Our rooms are super clean and tastefully decorated in a nostalgic country style guaranteed to make you feel at home. The furniture is made of local mountain ash, not formica.  Although our decor is purposely old-fashioned, each room contains all the expected modern conveniences: table top refrigerator, telephone, and color cable TV  with free HBO. The pure, cold, untreated                mountain water flowing from your tap provides a delightful taste sensation after a long day of hiking, sight seeing, shopping or antiqueing.

Because of our higher elevation, the air is always cool. Our daytime temperatures are usually about 10 degrees below Maggie Valley and 15 to 20 degrees below Cherokee and Gatlinburg. Imagine sleeping with open windows under blankets in July and August! What a treat! That's exactly what our guests enjoy every night, as our night time lows are usually in the high 50's throughout the summer.                                                FREE in all rooms: coffee pot, refrigerator, wireless internet, cable TV with HBO.  For your comfort, there are large ceiling fans, extra blankets in the closets all year, and  heat  for those who easily feel the chill of night.
